About Us

Russell A. Goward, Jr. was the first
African-American to receive a PhD in pure
Mathematics from The University of
Missouri-Columbia. He is a research
Mathematician with experience in program
development and approximately fourteen
years of experience teaching mathematics.

Dr. Goward has held postdoctoral positions at
Purdue University, the Mathematical Sciences
Research Institute, and The University of
Michigan-Ann Arbor.

Dr. Goward has a special interest in getting
socially and economically disadvantaged
students to major in Mathematics.

Mrs. Monika Petty has a BS in Criminal
Justice from the University of Missouri-St.
Louis and an MBA from Webster University
in St. Louis.

Mrs. Petty has several years experience in
Advertising and Marketing. Mrs. Petty was
previously an agent and Marketing Specialist
for Russell Goward Realty.
